LST: Polyp classification

Long designation

LST = lateral spreading tumor

Meaning

Broad-based polyp that spreads into the surrounding area and often cannot be detected by a standard procedure, e.g. c-EMR can be safely removed. If the findings are positive, you will usually be referred to a specialized center for removal and subsequent inpatient observation.

Types

The following subtypes can be further differentiated (for more details see link below):

g-LST = granular

ng-LST = non-granular

nm-LST = nodular mixed
