Meaning

Quality measure of the assessability of the colon. A high score (max. 9) indicates a high level of cleanliness or good preparation.

The large intestine is divided into 3 sections: right, middle and left. Each section is graded from 0 to 3 points according to the degree of soiling. The sum corresponds to the degree of soiling: thus the sum is

  • ≤5 points as poor bowel preparation,
  • 6-7 as a good bowel preparation and
  • ≥ 8 as a very good bowel preparation.
