CO2 - carbon dioxide

Long designation

CO2 = carbon dioxide

Meaning

The use of carbon dioxide can improve comfort and safety during endoscopic examinations, especially colonoscopy. In contrast to the room air normally used, CO2 can be absorbed 150 times faster from the intestine into the tissue and bloodstream and eliminated via the lungs.

This means, among other things, that less sleeping medication is required. Furthermore, you will only have a slight pressure in your abdomen 15 minutes after the end of the examination. For more information, please refer to the specialist article below.

Unfortunately, this very useful service is not currently paid for by the statutory health insurance companies, so we have to charge you €15 as a so-called IGEL towards the costs. Private health insurance companies, however, cover the costs.
