Meaning
Drugs that inhibit the release of stomach acid after they have been absorbed into the body. Therefore, the meal should be approx. 30 minutes before a meal so that the full effect is felt as soon as the body wants to upregulate stomach acid in response to the food.
This class contains similar active ingredients: e.g. pantoprazole, eosmeprazole, omeprazole.
