GP referral case: Urgent appointments

Since January 2023, the "GP placement case" has been a new instrument that the Legislator has introduced a controlled appointment system for medically urgent cases due to increasingly long waiting times for specialist appointments.

Although we consider this to be a fundamental Sensible measurehowever, it quickly became apparent that the high potential for abuse.

The following conditions apply:

  1. Important: a referral is only possible through a family doctor we know well.
  2. The family doctor provides a Urgent complaint which, in his opinion, requires prompt consultation with a specialist.
  3. Not the patient, but the family doctor himself or his non-medical staff call us via the "direct line" and make an appointment by telephone.
  4. The referral form with the questionnaire should be sent directly by fax.
  5. As a rule, it is not possible to reschedule the appointment.

Please noteOf course, in individual cases we also examine a referral case from unknown referring physicians, but the hurdles for proving the actual medical urgency are higher in this case. In principle, your family doctor (unknown to us) will certainly cooperate with another urologist or gastroenterologist - the referral should be made there accordingly.
